Agreeing in English

I agree.

I completely agree. The lead time is the real problem here.We had the same issue in June.

Agreement is not the end of your turn

“I agree.”

“I agree — especially about the lead time. That's what caused the delay last quarter.”

I agree, especially about the cost.
You're right about the timing — that's the part I'd worry about too.
Exactly. And it's not just this quarter; we saw the same thing in June.

How strong do you want to sound?

  1. I couldn't agree more.
  2. Absolutely. / Exactly.
  3. I completely agree.
  4. I agree. / That's true.
  5. That's a fair point.
  6. I suppose so. / I guess you're right.

I suppose so.I guess you're right.

I couldn't agree more.

agree のあとの前置詞agree with, on, to or that?

I agree with Sato. / I agree with that approach.
We agreed on a date. / We agreed on the price.
They agreed to our terms. / He agreed to help.
I agree that we should wait.

I agree with that we should wait. I agree that we should wait.

So do I / Neither do IShort agreement

"I think it's too expensive."肯定文So do I.
"We are behind schedule." So are we.
"They have finished." So have we.
"I don't like the design."否定文Neither do I.
"We aren't ready."否定文Neither are we.
"They haven't replied."否定文Neither have we.

So do I. / Neither do I. / Same here.

Me too. / Me neither.

Common mistakes

1. I am agree with you.

I am agree with you.

I agree with you.

2. I agree with that we should wait.

I agree with that we should wait.

I agree that we should wait.

I agree with the plan.

3. "So the report isn't finished?" — "Yes, not yet."

"So the report isn't finished?" — "Yes, not yet."

"So the report isn't finished?" — "No, not yet."

Right. / I see. / Mm-hm.

5. "I think the design is too plain." — "That's right."

"I think the design is too plain." — "That's right."

"I think the design is too plain." — "I agree." / "That's a fair point."

6. I have the same opinion as you.

I have the same opinion as you.

I feel the same way.

I agree.

7. "I don't like the new layout." — "Me too."

否定文に賛成するときは Me too ではなく Me neither です。

"I don't like the new layout." — "Me too."

"I don't like the new layout." — "Me neither."

Neither do I.

8. "I think we should wait." — "So am I."

think は do で受け、be動詞の文だけが So am I になります。

"I think we should wait." — "So am I."

"I think we should wait." — "So do I."

I agree that the timing is right, though I'm less sure about the budget.

Practice

  1. I agree _ Sato about the deadline.

  2. After two calls, we finally agreed _ a delivery date that suited both sides.

  3. I agree _ the schedule is too tight.

  4. "I think the price is too high." — "So _ I."

  5. "We aren't ready to launch." — "_ are we."

  6. "They haven't replied yet." — "Neither _ our supplier."

  7. "So the report isn't finished?" — "_, not yet. I'll have it by Friday."

  8. I couldn't agree _.

  9. I _ with you — the shipping cost is the real problem.

  10. I feel the same _ about the new supplier.

“I think we should delay the launch by a month. The app still has too many bugs.”(「リリースを1か月延ばすべきだと思います。

  1.  , especially about  .強く
  2. I agree that  .  .標準
  3.  , though I'd want to check   first.

Next: disagreeing
